Visit to Kelmscott Manor, Cotswold retreat of William Morris

Kelmscott Manor was the inspirational Cotswold retreat of William Morris, Victorian textile designer, poet, novelist & Father of the Arts and Crafts Movement. Described as a ‘Heaven on Earth’ by Morris, he loved the Manor House and adjoining farm buildings as a work of true craftmanship, totally unspoilt and unaltered, and in harmony with the surrounding countryside.

Numbers are limited to 36. Unsurprisingly the cost of coach hire has increased significantly since the pandemic and fuel cost rises.

Parking for all coaches and cars is in our car park on the outskirts of the village next to the church. The walk to the Manor is approximately 7-10 minutes, depending on the individual. For visitors who need assistance transport will be available.

Access:  We welcome all types of mobility vehicles on to the property, however we regret that powered mobility vehicles cannot be used inside the Manor due to the restricted space and the fragility of the collection. We have two manual wheelchairs and a walking frame on wheels for visitor use. Wheelchair access is limited to the ground floor of the house. For those unable to access to the upper rooms, we have fully illustrated folders available. The ground floor of the house, the gardens, the shop, the tearoom and the tea lawn all have step-free access. Many of the tea lawn tables are wheelchair accessible.
